Topic: possible 'retro' Czechoslovakian

As usual with these things, the glass is not black, but deep purple (when held to the light).   I've seen dozens of 1930's - 1940's black/coloured vases, but they have all been decorated with some conventional design of flowers or whatever  - but this is the first I've seen showing an abstract design and looking rather retro.   Height is about 325mm/12.75".    Probably a  non-starter regarding decorator, but interested to know what date people might assign.  Actually, I quite like it, rather unusual. thanks for looking.

thanks - will see if I can find anything from that output to match - an East German town that seems to be shrinking in population, apparently.

I know the Weisswasser factory was in existence from 1897 onwards and was called the Bärenhütte. Part of Lausitzer Glas in the 60. It was eventually purchased by the firm Peill & Putzler around 1994, they moved part of their production to former East Germany to cut costs. To no avail, as they closed around 2007(?).

ehrm - major centre of glassmaking, not a factory, with a long and colourful history. Just not this one.

Yep, sorry - I was a bit too hasty. That was the one I knew about, and I assumed one glass works would be enough for one town, but further research shows that there have been 11 glassworks in Weisswasser. Though many of them were founded by the same owners as spin-offs. Only two of them are still around (or were recently).
