ID Request - Murano Bowl, Barovier/Barbini/Fratelli??
« on: November 11, 2011, 12:06:52 PM »
Hi all, just wondering if anyone recognises this design please?  The bowl/ashtray has a ground and polished, shallow concave pontil mark, and measures 16cm in diameter.

Hi Wayne,

I do not know the maker but I have to say "WOW" on the piece!!     I have never seen a design like that (mind you I can't find designs for the item I posted either...LOL).  But what a nice piece that is!

I really like it

See if I can find anything.....?

What a gorgeous bowl. I have no idea. My initial thought was AVeM in the spirit of Anzolo Fuga, but the more I looked, the less I thought that. The cigarette holders are something I've not seen before on such a nice piece of glass. I am pulled toward Barovier & Toso for it, but could be very wrong. The heavy gold makes me favor them over the others.

I like the way the filament patches are staggered so there is overlap. It takes away such a blocked look. Very well done.

Thanks Rose & Anita.  I was kinda leaning towards Barovier too due to all that gold, but it looks like this one will be filed under "unknown" for now, unless someone recognises the unusual pattern.  It somehow reminds me of "radioactive" warning signs!  It's a shame those cigarette holders are so obvious, I think it spoils it a bit, but it's still a stunner!
