Gift Vase! Kralik???
« on: January 05, 2012, 10:34:00 AM »
Okay, I was trying not to overload the board with posts but as Im still housebound and chairbound...whats a girl to do!!

Anyway this vase arrived for me today. Its damaged and I knew it was damaged but the lady who had it was going to do a clear out. This vase was nothing compared to the rest of her pottery and glass collection. I said if she was every clearing out then could I have this vase. Long story short..it arrived today. And I don't care if its damaged...I'll just do a "Now you see it---Now you dont" :) And can you believe I can't find one online at the moment..(must be the medication Im on)
Any thoughts? And do you think it retains any value with the damage? Monetary I mean...

You value it despite the damage - so what's the worry?
There are some of us out there who don't mind a wee bit of damage on an old/scarce piece we wouldn't be able to afford if it were perfect.
Now for the important questions - is  the green bit uranium? - and is it eosin iridesence on the surface of the base?
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Oh and the monetary value is for my kids. Im doing an album of my glass, pics and then as much info as possible...so that one day they dont get totally ripped off

Eosin iridescent glaze is used most famously on Zsolnay pottery - it's sort of deep goldy-green with a sometimes reddish glow.

Hi there, I believe this is a piece of Kralik. Alfredo has a couple of their pieces with this style of foot....

Thanks Craig, I still cant find anything similar although I KNOW I have seen one before. My memory isn't what it used to be. And I will continue on my search to gain myself a real "Loetz" piece :)
