Hello everybody, my first post here.
Years ago I picked up this little vase. By chance while on ebay  ::) I spotted this link
I hope its ok to post an ebay link if not pls advice
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Excellent-Whitefriars-Kingfisher-Traffic-Light-Vase-9760-Geoffrey-Baxter-1972-/180778448344?pt=UK_Art_Glass&hash=item2a173c35d8#ht_2002wt_1165

that is my baby.
I was surprised it has such an high price tag, can anyone spare a minute to explain why?
I cannot find any other similar on this website so I am not sure who is the producer / artis and if it is really called traffic light vase?
Any help most gratefully received

After 15 years looking odd and lonely I would like to get something else to team up with it, any suggestions?
Helena

Welcome to the board Helena.

Links are fine, and those vases were made by Whitefriars and are often called traffic light vases. The price being asked in that listing does seem to be a tad excessive, there could be many reasons for that I guess.

A look at completed listings shows that they normally auction for less, the last two kingfisher blue examples went for around 50 and 60.

Thank you for your answer John
I am very happy to have this little unusal piece than.
Are they supposed to be signed or Whitefriars used stickers?
I looked at your Collection very nice. I discovered I also have two Mdina Lollipop Facet Vase (hope I got the right name) in the dark brwon white blue combination, different from your which must be more rare and precious? All my bits where bought long before the internet and off flee market

Whitefriars did not sign the vast majority of their glass but they did use paper stickers.

Your lollipops sound like they are in the colours usually called Tiger, you could ask about them (in a new topic) but the chances are we would need to see a photo or two to be of much help. There is a help topic here for adding photos: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,6522.0.html (ask for help if you get stuck).

John is right........but the smaller Geoffrey Baxter vases seem to be holding up price wise at te moment.

Have a look through some of my photographs on the links under my signature, a lot of different types of Whitefriars and a Wannabee blog which is a guide really of not what to buy!
