Topic: Uranium Clock - Mercedes...Walther?

My latest find at the Flea Market is this lovely uranium glass clock. Unfortunately it is damaged but still beautiful. The movement is Made in Germany..Mercedes. Does anyone have any idea of the maker of the gorgeous glass frame please

I wonder if the glass and the clock were originally together?   It seems odd that there is no easy access to the winding mechanism and that you would have to pull the clock out every time it needed winding.  My understanding is Straub made the Mercedes branded clocks from about 1948 and into the 1980s.  (I haunt watch and clock websites too.    Based on the clock IF the two pieces are original to each other I would place it in the '60s, give or take.  Have seen what looked like the same clock movement in decorative mantle cases made many parts of the world.  Hope that helps.

Argh, I see you didn't post a picture of the back and I only assumed no access to the winding.

It may be a replacement clock, as they are generally unbranded in these 1930s clocks. Hoffman might be a good bet, as it looks very similar to the cherub clock

  Thank you both for your replies...it does look like your cherub one Christine  and I have now post a pic of the back of clock I think it is original as you can see it has had a hard life. It's such a pretty design shame about the damage as it glows very brightly under UV.

Yes but if Straub/Mercedes didn't start making clocks till 1948, that is a bit late for this clock. It could be a 60-year-old replacement in a 80-year-old clock
