The fact that it is green (rather than gold) aventurine may help as I believe 'coloured' aventurine to be more recent (last quarter of 20th century?). But someone with glass experience will know better.
Green aventurine was produced in the mid 1860s.

Unfortunately I have not seen another weight like the one shown here, with its "white chips" ground, so I can't add anything specific about it.

Thanks Kevin,I'm wondering if the "white chips"are some sort of overshot technique?

Overshot is chips of glass stuck (by heat) on the outside of something. Your white chips are just white chips of glass

Morning all,not a bump as I think this one may remain a mystery for a while, just a question about weight/density,this weight seems heavier than equivalent size weights I have which I've put down to lead content of the glass, does this make it easier to date or is that just down to the makers, right off to work thanks.
