Topic: Hollow (Bubble) Stem Glass. Used For?

Hi 
What would this have been used for? And when would it date to?
My first thought was a sweetmeat, but it is incredibly shallow.
Not a champagne, I would think, due to the edges.
Made in 3 parts with some clouding within the bubble stem. Ground and polished pontil scar.
97 mm high
100 mm diameter bowl which is roughly 20 mm deep

Just a shot in the dark but it does have similarities to Victorian and Georgian patch stand's in term's of size however i have not seen one with a rim cut like that before they are usually upturned to keep the small patches safe. Just a thought nothing concrete. Does not seem to have enough wear on the base for those sort's of date's maybe just for pins or similar?

I have seen an identical one, but engraved on the underside, also described as a patchstand. I'd never heard of such a thing.
As for base scratches, I removed a slim round piece of leather?  which was more than a little worse for wear and, obviously, have no idea when that was placed there.

Coloured patches, allegedly "beauty spots", were worn over smallpox scars, and there were small stands like this made, for keeping them on, on the dressing table.
But I don't actually know how to identify one or tell it apart from a sweetmeat one.
