Topic: Caithness 'egg' weight question.

The "Midsummer" series of Collectable Eggs was designed by Colin Terris and issued in 1999 - see attached catalogue page. You'll also find these on Scotland's Glass (scroll down).

So your weight is probably Violet, Keith.
I am a little confused - from the images it does look like the big named flower is inside the weight, but according to the info, they are hot worked on the surface.
Are the further cased in clear, after the hot surface working?

We are stuck in the position of having 2D images representing 3D things. And the photos in the catalogue show off the big flower well - but not the darker background and really beautiful bottoms.

Hi all,

I just wanted to mention that we have a past thread on the GMB on a related set of Caithness pedestal weights - see link below:

Wuff had started that one....

Those large pedestal weights are gorgeous, as the flowers are also engraved over the top. I have seen a few over the years and own the orchid version. Iif you have the possibility of getting one of these, I would strongly advise to 'bag it'.

I will try and post a photo of it soon.

I concentrated on the engraved flower but you can see the torchwork orchids on both side.
