Any ID's for this bowl and dish, please?
« on: January 25, 2007, 12:27:30 PM »
Hi all,

Picked up a mixd box of glass at auction yesterday, most of which I've now ID'd or thrown away! Can't find anything like these two pieces though, and would be very grateful for any information about them.

First is a bowl, about 20.5cm diameter by 8.5cm deep, which has a slight greenish tinge to the 'speckled' glass. It's decorated with 4 scenes of two figures in a boat, a church, a lighthouse(?) and a basket of flowers ~ slight oriental feeling to these ~ and has four fairly large dimples around it. Has a rough pontil mark.

The second item is a large triangular or arrowhead shaped dish, about 33cm by 28cm. Sits on three scrolled feet and has a distinct 'studio' feel to it. As the pictures show, the feet are splayed at different angles and it's a bit rough in one or two places.

They may well be 'nothing', but I'd like to know before deciding what to do with them!

Very many thanks in anticipation, John.

first one is (if I remember correctly) Swedish, but don't ask me which company.
The second one is the green green glass from Empoli, made by Vetreria Etrusca or Rossini or Toso Bagnoli, 1950s-1970s.

Wow Ivo, that was quick! :o
Very many thanks for the information. I'll start digging around the Swedish sites to see if I can find anything ~ unless anyone else knows the maker?

Many thanks again, John.

Hi again Ivo,

Assuming you mean your decanter matches the bowl rather than the green dish, I've been looking at Reijmyre and haven't found anything like it. All the bits I've found are sort of Retro style ~ much 'cleaner' and funkier! Do you have any idea of the age of this/these pieces?

Thanks again, John.

Reijmyre produced many different styles over the years - i believe the retro bubbly look with the matt decoration is from the 70s
