Vase with brown stripes.
« on: March 05, 2007, 04:43:22 AM »
I have lost my post for this, so will try again, can anyone help identify this vase? I have no idea if it's old or new?  It's quite light weight glass, similar to a Venini Zanfirico plate I have. Could it be Italian?

Don't know the maker, but I wonder if the 'brown' stripes should have been red, but the temperature wasn't quite right.  I'm not exactly sure of the chemical reactions or the temperatures involved in this, but I have a paperweight which we watched Alastair MacIntosh make, which was meant to be red, white and blue but in which the red rods turned brown after it had been annealed.  The red/brown looks very like the 'brown' in your vase.
