I was told the different colours represent different things.  Ive seen ones for the creation(???)  of the Commonwealth, Queens coronation in 53, and so on.  They are usually quiet, errm, roughly made.  Lovely pieces though, and people often dont realise they are whitefriars.  I got asked 3 times if it was genuine when I listed that one!
