Heavy Amber Ashtray
« on: March 12, 2008, 10:49:27 PM »
Hello,
Can anyone tell me roughly when this big ashtray was made, or is it a cigar ashtray? this is 2ins high ti the rim and 8ins in diameter outside edge, in diameter is 6.5ins i prsume these were made in lots of numbers and different colours, too.  Could some one please say if this ashtray is from the 70s and by whom ?

Might be here... Worth a look :)  Sorry can't help with the I.D. although I thought it did look very Anchor Hocking in shape (like the 'Soreno', but without the textured pattern).

I have one of these in front of me.

I've seen several 'on the market' and I'd be pretty sure that it's going to be Bohemian or German.
It's VERY heavy! and often seen here, then only these two countries exported heavy/pressed glass to the Netherlands in quantity.
I know that this is an 2c 'intuitive' observation, but it's going to be tricky to find it in a catalogue?!
