German Beer Glass Can you help Translate!
« on: June 15, 2009, 04:25:48 PM »
Hi,
I know this is bit of an odd one! I have a set of 5 of these cute Beer Glasses, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the date of them or can translate what they are all about.
All I could find out is that they are for a German Beer company called Schlosser Alt.
Thanks for your Help!

think i can help with a translation:

schlösser alt - schlösser is the firm´s name, an ´alt´ is a special german dark beer
der altstadt schluck - the old town´s sip (?)

herzhaftes alt - hearty ´alt´
nach dem rezept aus dem herzen der - according to a recipe from the heart of
düsseldorfer altstadt - düsseldorf´s old town

cheers!

80´s / 90´s ?

Schlösser, as far as I remember is the name of a Brewer in Düsseldorf or Cologne - and Altbier is the nearest thing the Germans brew to traditional English bitter.  Well worth trying, too!

Thankyou Dirk and Malwodyn for the information, I can put them on Ebay now! I'm not sure of the age but I willl put on 80- 90's! They are very cute, they remind me of Yellow Submarine style cartoons.

Thanks again
