Orrefors signature assistance
« on: June 10, 2009, 04:43:59 PM »
This vase measures 4-3/8" tall and has some sort of bird on the front, does anyone know about this bird and more importantly, can anyone interpret this signature?
Thanks, Tom

You have a vase designed by Edward Hald, produced in 1941 in three different sizes and two colors: white and
aqua marine.

A very similar vase can be seen on page 214 (bottom left corner) of Scandinavian Glass Smoke & Ice. The page is copied from the Orrefors catalogue (number 12) for 1937, I can see a few differences in the engraving, like the angle of the bird's head but that is really nit picking on my part.

John.
