Hi Trudy. Following up on Ross's suggestion, here are four pieces by Peter Goss with extensive trailing.

I don't think yours is in fact by Peter Goss. There are certain distinctive similarities, namely the square shape and the silver chloride (?) trails. Also you found it in Australia, where he lived and worked.

On the other hand, Peter Goss was careful to sign each piece, and every one I have seen with trails like this has extra decoration in the form of coloured chips rolled into the surface. Also the way the trails continue onto the base of your item is unusual and not at all like his handiwork.

Trevor the trailing looks the same in the first two but that's about it for similarities. His vases also have the clear base whereas this one is a solid colour. And there is no spot for a signature definitely :) So I agree, I don't think it is unless it was a test piece or an early piece before he started his trademark technique.

Sorry, Trudy, I went quiet 'cos I needed to think. I'm not convinced it's silver chloride at all. I've got a couple of bits by Allister Malcolm which have gold and silver trailing a bit more like your and the Peter Goss bits - but I don't have pics. I also don't know how the trails are golded and silvered!

Love those Peter Goss bits, though!
