Pink matte vase with "gold" piping and signed?
« on: February 19, 2012, 03:40:40 AM »
The item below has been a long time puzzle. It is 24.5h x 14w x 13d. The "gold" piping actually looks metallic and the matte surface suggests an acid treatment. The signature might be recognised?

I think i saw something similar with metal bits described as Romanian. I could be wrong though.

Wonderful information, Tigerchips! I think you are right about the Romanian art form. Here are three other items from US eBay that are even more like the one I posted than your examples. They are all by the same seller, who has one item in the shop with a B-I-N price of $600,000! The ones below are much more modest in price. Still, mine is an interesting talking point.

Also thanks, Rose. I guess the signature is in Romanian. Note that some of the items offered by the above seller are signed, but we are not told who is the artist.

Just for future reference here's the link to Leni's which is by Vadan. I don't think it's the same signature as yours but good to keep them in the same thread.

There are a few similar ones by Dan Bancila on Ebay UK but i don't think the signature would match up with yours... http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=DAN+BANCILA&_sacat=See-All-Categories

I think the first letter of the signature is a capital Z - that's the way I was taught to write them too... but I can't read the next couple of letters. It seems to end in hy though... so possibly Z...hy???
