Rose you haven't been back to revisit your topic so before it slides down the list I figured I'd post that I'm 99% certain this piece is Tiffin Empress Twilight & Smoke #6612 vase. It was bugging me that I knew what this form was, but until you took those last pics in the natural light it eluded me. This is glass on glass as far as the colors go, the Twilight is first then the layer of Smoke is attached. I'm certain I can see the seam on your first pics when I enlarge them. With this color combo the Twilight is washed out when the Smoke layer is applied because the Smoke layer turns very dark, almost black & this absorbs the light making the piece appear to be a smoky gray unless its held up tio natural light so you can see the color separation. Same thing exists on the Twilight & Green color combo only with that combo Tiffin realized the problem & discontinued it fairly soon after its introduction in 1967. The base is a match also. This is a fairly scarce Empress form in a very nice color combo, a very good piece of Tiffin Modern. I've attached a pic of two Empress Twilight & Smoke pieces I've owned, pics were taken in bright sunlight to show the color separation otherwise they would appear to be the smoky grayish coloration. Good thing your retook your pics in the natural light as it made all the difference in the world. Ken

Thank you so much OHIO    (...pretend there IS still a HUG smiliey here...as you deserve a hug for all your work there!!) So :hugs: to you from Me!!!

My emotion to  you..."Click here"

Where in the heck did you find a pattern number?  I have now googled Tiffin and I have not found much yet....LOL.  I think this would be my first piece of Tiffin Glass that has passed through my hands here.....that I know about.  Can you direct me to another picture or info on that pattern number?  So this base IS a Tiffin Base?  May I see your Tiffin base like this too - so that we have extra info (reference pics too) on Tiffin.

Good thing I did put it in the Window here -- as I never knew either that the daylight made it look purple as it always looks smokey color everywhere else I looked at it, or took a pic of.  So Good thing I did put in the Window.

So an older more rarer piece you say!!  Thanks so much.  Love anymore info, as I am like a sponge at times for all info related!!

Thank you ever SO Much!!  ;kissy:

Rose your vase appears in Tiffin Modern Mid-Century Art Glass by Ruth Hemminger, Ed Goshe (friend of mine) & Leslie Pina on page 56 under the heading of Ruby & Crystal which was another color combo it was available in. Its a perfect match. Now I've seen a ton of Tiffin Modern in a ton of Empress shapes made, but I've not personally seen this shape in 38 years of U.S. glass so its not that for one reason or another. I suspect it might not have been popular & a poor seller so it wasn't manufactured in any real quantity because the shape when compared with other Empress shapes isn't very exciting to the eye, but admittedly I don't know an accurate explaination. A good many years ago I was a member of the national group for years, but when you get older & retire many of these types of relationships simply fade away.  Yes the base is correct & the Empress line had square bases, ribbed bases & your oblong type of base. Nice find on a nice piece in the more popular color Empress combo. Ken
