Iridescent green mould-blown flower set
« on: May 01, 2014, 10:06:51 AM »
See four images, each with click to enlage feature, via http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-19865

This is an iridescent green mould-blown vase with a close fitting metal flower support and finial.   The vase looks central European to me, perhaps early 20th century.   The green paint looks modern — I think I can see hints of a gold finish underneath.   Dimensions: h. 15cm 6", w. 541g 1lb 3oz.

I would be grateful for maker, pattern, and dating information.   Were the metal tops supplied with the vases or added by the wholesaler / retailer?

Thanks for your interest,

Some of these are very difficult to ID. The pattern doesn't look familiar to me, thought it might to others.

My best guess would be Bohemian and late 19th/early 20th C.

I would say the the grill has been repainted. They are generally brassed or "silvered " or sometimes black (and often missing).

I have one very similar but in clear, I think the pattern is different but otherwise the features match. I find the easiest way to judge the pattern is on the base (where it is not distorted), can you add a photo of the pattern on the base please Bernard?

John

John & Christine — thanks for your replies.   If you go to my link, John, and click on the third thumbnail, this will take you to an image of the base.   Click on that image to enlarge it.   Also now you will see a full set of four thumbnails, so you have access to all four of my images.   As you said it is a fairly bold pattern and undistorted on the base.

A distinctive pattern that would be useful to be able to see clearly if it is not the same as this one.

I have a similarly patterned vase as yet un identified. I thought Victorian in style but couldn't get any further. http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,55536.msg314681.html#msg314681

John — Apologies.   I thought you were unfamiliar with GlassGallery!

Pete — Yes, exactly the same pattern mould, different shape mould.
