I have this lovely paperweight, it is sort of signed with something on its base.
Any help of origin or maker would be lovely
Thanks in advance

CIIG is the mark Caithness Glass used for their seconds, it can be hard to see why some weights were not considered firsts.

I think that their QC was pretty tight, it needed to be with some of their retail prices. Anyone collecting and interested in identifying CG weights by name, date of production and designer would do well to buy a copy of one of the many books available, do a Google search.

Caithness made many trial or experimental weights to get the design of the final item right, or just to play around and get new ideas, and rather than waste anything they marked these pieces CIIG and sold them off I their shop

I always thought that any pre-production ones that didn't turn out right they destroyed and only after they put them into production that any not quite up to the QC standard were the ones that they marked C11G. ??
