Help Needed on Huge Float / Compote Bowl
« on: January 27, 2012, 02:06:08 PM »
Hello All and thanks for all your help.  I have the very large and unusual display / float / compote bowl, the likes of which I have not seen before.  It looks like 2 bowls sitting inside each other but it basically has a "trough" some 3cm wide running around the edge to give this appearance of 2 bowls.  Its quite ornate and fluted underneath a bit like Davidsons bowls.  The base has a circular ring that makes it look like it slots into a large stand or base of some sort.  The bowl is 33cm across the top (13 ins) and 10cm (4 ins) tall at sides.  On the inside centre which is smooth but at the base it has 3 steps down to the bottom and the bottom "well" being just over 8cm (3½ ins) and this fits the Walther flower frog perfectly as this originally had an Orla Lady and frog in it but I am sure this is Not a Walther Bowl as around the base in Capital letters is states PATENT APPLIED FOR.  I would love to know who made it or any other info.  Thanks all.  Markus
