Sorry Rose I have not followed up this pwt.  Events with my wife's Ovarian Cancer have overtaken me and I don't know when I might be able to find out something.  It really is a fascinating mark so I will try to put it on the extended to do list.

I haven't managed to locate an image of the weight or the kiwi mark - the moderator has removed it because of copyright, and the link provided does not work. Giovanni produced a very distinctive 'murrini' kiwi in the 1990s, but I suspect since this is a mushroom paperweight that it is not one of theirs. If I can be sent an image or provide with a link I'll be pleased to try to help

Thanks for that, got there in the end. I have seen that mark on one or two pieces listed for sale on TradeMe (the New Zealand e-Bay), but I have never been able to track down their origin. I have a sneaking suspicion it might be Chinese (they do a great line they call 'The New Zealand Collection', but that's just a hunch. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Thanks for the Reply gaspy1 and ahremck!!

I was thinking here (oh no....LOL) Maybe it is Not a Kiwi bird......Maybe it is a Stylized Polar Bear Logo (sitting on butt)  or something like that.  Just throwing it out there.....??

I did get all the other Glass Mushroom posted (and this one) by me -- from a lady that was from over-the-pond and had moved here.  So anything is possible.

Thanks   :-*

Rose if youo rotate the base photo 180 degrees that central stamp looks very like a Kiwi.  I personally have never seen a base mark like that but I will see what I can find out with a couple of contacts.  Have I your permission to pass on the photo?

Ross
??  Did you ever find out anything ?? Could the mark BE A KIWI, or could be from ????????  Hokitika Glass Studio of New Zealand ???????  As a guess ?????

I don't have an ID for you, but I don't see a kiwi - it's an impressed Q.
