Anyone recognize this vase?
« on: March 18, 2007, 03:01:01 AM »
I do not remember seeing anything even close to the following.  This vibrant yellow over white cased glass 11 1/2" vase with a 3 1/2" base has an enameled top in shades of red, gold, and moss green. What appears to be a splotch of white on the base, is actually a bit of white glass.  For some reason it looks European to me, perhaps 1920's era.  Any suggestions as to age/origin will be greatly appreciated.

Clicking on the thumbnail will take you to the album with a close up of the enameling and a shot of the base.

Thanks Anne.  Perhaps you can tell me.  Was there ever a period where 20th century European glass showed a middle eastern/Turkish or Moorish influence?  There is something about the shape and decoration on this piece that reminds me of photos I have seen of decoration from Byzantium and/or the Alhambra.

Paul, it was this topic which made me think possibly Bohemian as the decoration seems to be of the same ilk:
