Have just staggered back from a local carboot, with some lovely glass and a lamp which looks like it should be on the front of some car, but OH loves it!!

I think the blue jug and the blue bowl with holes either end may be Holmegaard.

Mod:  Photo's uploaded to GlassGallery   :)

This vase may be Kosta or Orrefors but I can't read the marks on the base

Is this bowl Murano bullicante as it is very frothy looking, the base has a very neatly ground pontil mark and alot of wear.

But this is my favorite, the colour is the most wonderful golden sunshine amber colour with 6 lobes for the base, and a number etched on the base as well, either z1693 or 21693, it weighs a ton!! I did wonder if it was Whitefrairs but it is round not oval.

This picture hopefully shows the base and the number, but back to front

And finally the hood ornament, its huge and looks like chrome, but have no idea of age. As I said OH loved it, but we are NOT keeping it  >:D

many thanks,

Barbara

Lamp looks like a modern repro, what is it like under the base? The colour suggests India/Far East

Hi Frank,

Its very well made under the base, no sharp edges or dodgey colour, just the same as the rest really. The person he bought it off said he re-wired it, and it has the  British Standard parts, wire and plug (so it says on them), but at £15.00 its not going to break the bank, and it does work!

Just don't like the look its got in its eyes  ;D

The blue bowl looks very Czech to me Barbara, I think Marcus would like to see that.

I'll GlassGallery your pics now, as we spoke about - they're too large for some people to view at the moment.  :)

Hi Max,

Thankyou so much for doing that for me  :-*

I wondered if the blue bowl may be by Per Lutkin, as it has a very fluid shape.

But my favorite has to be the amber bowl, it looks like a piece of sunshine on my table at the moment. Its even stopped the kids in their tracks, which takes some doing.

The jug is probably Polish - I've got a couple of them lurking about, one in amber, one in a very bluey smoke colour.

Not too sure about the bowl - it's not a design I've seen before. If it was Holmegaard, I'd expect it to be signed. Even production seconds usually have some marks to the base. I'll trawl through Lutken's Glass Is Life later on and have a look-see for anything similar.

Hi Nic,

Thanks for the info on the jug, reminds of an accordian!

The bowl is an ice blue in colour, and holey with a lot of wear on the base.

Have you any idea on the engraved bowl's signature?

Got a nice resin "cracked" lamp base as well in blue, my choice that time.

I was going to ask the same question, Max - I've just spotted a design in Lutken's work books which looks quite similar. It's the only similar piece in the whole book, and it should size up at 27cm x 27cm, and 8.5cm tall. And weigh 2kg!

PS: The cracked resin lamp bases were made for British Home Stores.  ;D

Hi,

Well it is 8.5 cm tall, but only 14cm wide and 18cm long, its an oval shape, and weighs 1kg. But it is very stylish.

Well BHS did have style at one time in its history then, shame it hasn't built on its success  ;)
