Ah, that probably discounts Holmegaard then. Shame - it would have been a fairly early Lutken piece from 1947. Still, there's always the Czech angle to explore!

Max,

Thank you thank you for doing that to the pictures, you are a star  ;D.

Nic,

Do you think the amber bowl could be Scandinavian rather than British, with it having an engraved mark on it?

Barbara

No idea, sorry! It's not a design I've come across before.

Got a nice resin "cracked" lamp base as well in blue, my choice that time.

If it's the type of base I'm thinking of (they came in various bright colours) they're called Shattaline (sorry the spelling might not be correct, I need to refer to a particular book which I can't find right now).

Hi Pip,

Here it is, but more muted than others I have seen, more like a sea green/blue

Hi Barbara - yep that's them - yours is an unusual coloured one, I don't think I've seen a bluey/green one before - I more usually see them in bright orange and yellow.  I'll repost here later with the proper info (when I can find the book  ::))

They're referenced in Miller's not-too-useful 'Collecting The 1960s', but they're not refered to by range name. Apparently they were first retailed in 1968 for the princely sum of 49s 11d.

Pip,

It might have been for the more "genteel" BHS shopper from the 1960's (if there were any  :P) as it is a very pretty colour, not acid orange or blue.

I suspect that BHS copied WF tangerine and kingfisher as the base colours.

Hi again, all the book says is '1960's Shattaline resin lampbase' - I thought it gave a little more info, anyway there you go :-) (at least I know my memory's not completely gone to pot!)
