« on: April 14, 2007, 10:30:10 PM »
Is this bowl Murano pulegoso as it is very frothy looking, the base has a very neatly ground pontil mark and alot of wear.

Hello Barbara,
I havent seen one like this before, so cant be sure.
Have you looked at the other threads on Pulegoso pieces?
Theres a lot of info about, new copies, reproductions, the real Italian ones, etc.
Maybe another member has seen your bowl and can be of more help.

Hi Javier,

I have had a look, and the wear and the base finish seem to show that it is not a reproduction.

I'll carry on looking, just means I may have to buy another book  ;)

When I was over in Murano a couple of weeks ago doing some research, I saw one of these in a private collection. I'd never seen a combination of colours like this in a pulegoso piece before. The owner told me it was by Archimede Seguso from around 1958 so until I have grounds to believe otherwise it seems likely, but I would say a rare item and one to put away for a rainy day.

Hi Paul,

Many thanks for the information, it is a lovely bowl and looks a lot better in the flesh than the photo (as is often the case when I take them!)

Many thanks

Barbara
