Giants Eye Bath and other finds....
« on: October 26, 2007, 09:41:35 PM »
Hiya,
I'm a bit stuck with some of my boot sale finds this week and hoping that someone may recognise them.
I think that the green one is a Sklo Union (although I can't seem to find any photographic evidence to support my wild claim!) but the base seems right so I'm almost happy with that decision.

However, the other 2 in the pictures have left me really puzzled; One is like a giants eye bath and I instantly fell in love with it! The base is perfectly smooth, there's no pontil mark and there appears to be genuine age wear.It is very heavy, well made and about 7 inches tall.Sorry about the guesstimate but there's a teeny tape measure thief on the loose...again!  'Cheap as Chinese' or something fantastic,I think I'll hang to this one but it would be nice to know either way where it's from.

The taller one is an aubergine/purple,around 11 inches tall and has a polished pontil.I like it....I don't think the former owner did though as it was absolutely filled with dust and dirt :P /yuk!

Can anyone help please?
Many thanks again,
Elaine.

Green one does not look pressed. But can only see the tops in those pictures, not the full shape.

Still cannot make out the outline shape, in the first picture it looks like it came inwards and while can see the base now that actual outline is still hidden. Lighting is not too important to get the outline as avoiding shadows and dark backgrounds as they tend to merge together. Marcus might well recognis the design from these pics but is away at a conference....

Bet you'd never guess my father was a photographer  :o Hopefully I learned something from him and these are a little better.
