Green Dish - base ground ?
« on: November 28, 2007, 09:42:28 AM »
I have this green dish.  Know nothing about it, but the bottom seems to have an inwards ground mark, much like what I have seen on Murano....but what does that mean here....I tried my best to get a pic of the bottom...hope you can tell..

Thanks

Hi,

Your green dish is from the 1960s-70s era, was made by the Federal Glass Company and the pattern is called "Celestial". The bottom isn't ground at all, that's just the way it was made in the mold.

Indiana Glass ended up with the old Federal molds and has reproduced this pattern for Tiara, but not in the same color as yours. The Indiana versions are of lesser quality with ripples and bumps in the glass rather than smooth and near optically transparent like Federal's original version.

When Indiana bought out Fostoria Glass they (Indiana) made some items in this pattern, which they (for some odd reason) put a Fostoria mark on, but Fostoria never owned these molds nor did they ever made this pattern.

Thanks MIKE, so I guess that would be my story and I'm sticking to it (as per the above quote).  So what would be the approx. value for such a dish by Federal Glass Company (1960-1970 era), roughly?

Thanks again. :)

Value....hmmmm....

This is pretty common, almost too common and from what I have seen in real life stores and on ebay I would have to say between $5 & $10
