Large blue controlled bubble vase
« on: December 16, 2007, 01:22:04 PM »
Can anyone help with any information/ ID  for this vase please?
The vase is 30cm high. The pontil mark seems smoothed and reheated-hardly shows. Thanks

Excellent piece, congrats

I can't positively identify it, but the second picture reminds me of a technique used at Afors, the way that the depth of blue changes - see closeup of detail on an ariel piece

so my guess is Swedish

Thanks taylog1,
Do you know a good place to look on line for Afors pictures?

Ooooo...That looks really nice! I'll look through my Scandinavian glass book and see if I can find anything similar.

David,

I collect Afors and I've only seen two similar bits - what I meant was that if Afors was using it, then other Scandinavian firms were probably using it also.

It looks a little like a Leerdam Unica vase. Anyone know Leerdam better than me (a very broad category of people, I should add)?

Thank you all for your ideas. I have been searching for weeks now but have found nothing any close, other than colour and shape.
Does anyone know of anything else that has such large graduated bubbles? They are over 2cm tall at the top.

I thought I had seen a Leerdam graal piece like this (I think it's graal rather than kraka), but I've never been able to find it again.

Not much help. Sorry.

Thanks Langhaugh and Ray,
You may well be right, I can only find a tiny thumb nail image of a similarly bubbled Leerdam bowl. However it is, like most Ive seen , made of a much thicker glass than mine.
