For pennies, together with a couple of nice pieces of European pottery.

I've never seen a clear Schrötter Lens vase before, let alone one that has been cut.  Was that done in-house, I wonder, or post-sales?

Hi Chris,
Do you have an image of the "cut" Schrotter? Not done in house, so I am intrigued...
Thanks,
Marcus
PS. If you still have my e-adress could you please send my your phone number again? TIA.

There you go, guv'.
Found in a Swiss junk shop, if that's any help.
It's quite a tasteful job.  I've seen worse, anyway.

Hi Chris, I've got a clear 'lens' vase but not one that's been cut like that - how unusual, I really like it and I'm not a fan of cut glass usually.

That's a really cool lens vase. I suppose as pressed glass goes, it provides as good a base as anything to engrave – I wonder if Lesley has seen this?

I'm not a fan of cut glass usually.

It grows on you, especially once you get past the tired traditional.

Thanks Chris, for the images.
Definitely not done at the factory, and the vase is merely a cheap blank for cutting.
I am surprised at whoever cut this, using a sodium-potash glass, when lead crystal lends itself more sympathetically to the cutters/engravers art.
Regards,
Marcus

Yeah, I was thinking it might be a student piece.

I think you're right Frank - I probably need to look at some of the more unusual modern cut pieces - I do tend to wince and think of the more obvious items when cut glass is mentioned.
