Another unusual vase, milk glass with Star of David?
« on: June 28, 2008, 01:50:12 PM »
I am nearly at the end of photographing and adding the glass I bought to my web site, but I am stumped by this little thing.

http://i28.tinypic.com/1zmm4uw.jpg

It is about 4" tall and has what looks like the Star of David and Greek Key edging, but no makers marks at all.

Has anyone any ideas about maker, and if that symbol may be Masonic?

Thanks,
Barbara

Different style of star, but that image is not clear enough to really see it.

I have looked at Dotty Daves site but I don't think it is a pattern which has been made in carnival glass, as I know some were made in milk glass as well as carnival.

After seeing the Stars of David on that site, I don't think mine is, just a star shape pentagon thingy.

Barbara and Tiger, don't think they are relatives - greek key is completely different as the rest of the pattern is also

Barbara's star of David with its half pearls at the tips looks like a Sheriff's star we get here during carnival season for the kiddies  8) US then - colour could be that - JMHO  8)

Hi Pamela,

They are similar, but my star has a six sided figure ( can't remember what its called ?sixagon) in the middle and little bobbles on the end of the top, bottom and side points

I hope this is a little clearer to see.

Hi Barbara, sixagon is hexagon and my 'half pearls' are the bobbles you described - sorry for my lack of knowledge of English language  :-X
still do not believe there is a relation and cannot help further as with my photos, I'm afraid  :'(

Hi Pamela,

You put it much better than me,and as for my German  ::), just  don't go there, four years learning, and  zilch!

It just seemed a strange combination to use as decoration on what I think may be a spill vase.
