large studio vase - signed - any help with sig please?
« on: July 25, 2008, 02:01:41 PM »
Tall Studio vase, signed to the underside. Can anyone help with the signature?

I bought this with some other very good quality glass and the seller remembers that it came from a good studio - she thinks in the West Country somewhere.

I've taken a pic of the signature in negative as well as normal to see if this makes the contrast easier to see.

You can click on the thumbnails to see the larger pix.
thanks for any help,

Thank you very much!

Could it be Catherine Hough, only a guess though.

Oh good thinking JP - there is an email on her website, I have mailed her the pics and asked if she can confirm the signature.  The shape and finishing of the vase is very similar (although without the mouldings on the outside) as some of the limited commissions at her site too...

"The mouldings" referred to are rather time consuming and highly skilled hand cutting, often, because of the depth, described as hand-carving. ;)
