« on: August 26, 2008, 07:38:26 PM »
Hoping someone can steer me in right direction.....
this 12"H fish is 5 lbs !  and signed as shown   B.R.   83
I thought the unique large wave back and base would make it easier to ID..but days of googling has produced nothing

Murano ?  Scandinavian ?  Other?

thanks so much

I have seen a seagull with the same base i believe it was by one of the well known Italian firms, ie Seguso or Barovier.

update--I still have been researching...and finally found 2 similar on ebay...
I emailed the seller re: his attribution......Franklin Mint--!!!
He can;t find his catalog..but said they did a series...(seems to be of all seashore life) --
I can't find any other info....tried to find series name..,etc.....NG...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=310047182624&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=021

so still not sure if Murano or "murano style"  or if indeed Franklin Mint...

"Thank you for your email.

While our policy is to accommodate our collector's requests whenever possible, the collection you're inquiring about was produced in a limited quantity and is no longer available therefore we no longer has any reference material.

You may want to try and locate the issues you need on the secondary market.
Some good sources for this can be found through the various chat rooms and messages boards on the Internet. You might also, want to investigate some of the online auction sites or an independent appraiser.

We hope this information has proven helpful.  "

so if the mods want to move this to another category..please do....(though I fear I have hit a roadblock re: info :'( )

No I can't believe that is all they know. The records will be there somewhere but finding them takes time and effort and they can't sell you anything.... I was going to say China or eastern Europe seem like good options but perhaps less so in 1983, having now seen the date.

I agree --they don't seem to want to make an effort..if they can't sell me something..
(in this day and age..you would think they would have all their catalogs scanned into the computers !)
