Huge Teak-Stoppered Decanter
« on: March 12, 2009, 02:43:24 PM »
This is one of those frustrating "I know I've seen it before, but cannot for the life of me find the reference for it" pieces. It's painfully familiar, but nowhere to be found in the more obvious places.

It feels very Finnish, although it was purchased in Denmark. It's a very thick and dark steel-blue glass, and comes in at a whopping 395mm tall, inclusive of stopper. Polished and chamfered rim, moulded base.

Any help gratefully received.  :)

Nic, go to page 179 of Fire & Sea - your decanter is pictured and described as a Pukeberg 'Tropico' decanter designed by Goran Warff (circa 1960s) - albeit shown in a slightly different two tone colourway.

Very nice find - yours is the 'female' one, we have the 'male' version but without the stopper.

Yay, thanks for that, Pip.

Fire & Sea / Smoke & Ice are two books I don't yet have in my stockpile. I'll eventually get them, I'm sure.

You're very welcome Nic.  I only bought Fire & Sea/Smoke & Ice last Christmas as a pressie for my husband, he's barely put them down since.
