Eric Hoglund animal but which one?
« on: April 03, 2009, 09:39:05 AM »
I have this Eric Hoglund for Boda animal but I can not decide which animal it represents, suggestions from friends have ranged from snake through otter to cow. At times I think it is a bear at others I just feel clueless (not unusual).
I assume it is not part of the zoo series as they seem not to be signed.

It is about 8cm long and 7cm square at the 'back' and 4 cm square at the face.
It is signed Boda H 1998.

Can any one help with my confusion? Thanks, John.

The nostrils look like a water animal. Maybe a seal or sea lion? or a hippo? It looks most like a hippo to me.

Johnphillip, maybe it is best if you do not post a photo of your ex mother in law then....

I too thought the nostrils might indicate a water loving mammal, the eyes being set back so far from the snout has confused me though. A mythical animal, or am I being dense?

John.

Definitely not the zoo series one. Those have a silly face and little ears and body. The one in this thread looks like a hippo head, though. A dinosaur head also crossed my mind, but the nostrils are wrong for something like Brontosaurus.

What a fun animal, if only to try to guess what it is. We could probably find out if we googled Boda Hoglund, but what would be the fun of that?   :)

I have to admit to trying google before posting on the GMB, I agree that there is definitely more potential for fun here but I would have been willing to forgo the experience for a positive result (very mercenary).

Bryn, I am worried you may well be right.

I have decided it is not a polar bear after looking at some photos and I think I will try and research some Norse myths for beasties.
