Opalescent Glass - Identification Request
« on: May 10, 2009, 11:11:01 PM »
Hello, all.

I would appreciate your help.  I am trying to identify the maker of this opalescent pitcher, and determine the date it was created.  It is 5.5 inches (14cm) tall and 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter at its widest point.  It is bulbous at the bottom and then abruptly narrows in diameter to about 2 inches (5 cm).  It has opalescent stripes running parallel to each other which cross each other at the bottom.

Hi Phil,

Could I attach your photographs to your post itself? Tinypics delete the photos very quickly.

Thanks
Cathy

Hi Cathy,

Yes, that would be fine.  I tried several times to post the photos within the message, but all I received when I pressed the "Post" button, was a blank white screen.  I finally tried to post the message with hyperlinks to the photos rather than attachments, and was successful.  I wish you success, and thank your for your interest.  Phil

Hi Phil, the white screen means your pics were too big for the board to handle. They need to be smaller than 1000 x 1000 pixels in dimensions and less than 125kb in size and they should work for you. If you get stuck you can always email the pics to one of the Mods and ask us to resize them and add them into your topic for you. :)
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

I will provide you a photo of the handle end-on, but I'm afraid it may be a day or so before I can get it to you.  I apologize for the delay.  Thanks for the input so far.  Phil

English might be a good bet. Several companies registered similar handle designs, including Boulton and Mills, and Thomas Webb
