Malc:

It's nominally an ashtray, and likely generic Murano; I'd stake my reputation, but no more than $2.00 on that.

Yes, I am pretty sure it is Murano, and it is made in Bullicante technique. You can see more on the technique here http://www.glassofvenice.com/murano_techniques.php#7
I wouldn't make a judgement on how much it's worth as it depends on when/by whom it was made. How big is it? Did you get it at some kind of an estate sale or on the internet somewhere?

Sorry. In trying to be funny, I wasn't very clear about what I was saying. I wasn't saying that the ashtray was worth $2.00, but that my reputation was. Self-deprecating humour dominates the Scottish psyche, unless we're dealing with the English, that is.

I have seen a similar ashtray, designed by Armando Jacobino.
