Topic: frosted green glass elephant, with hollow back and lid..?? ID needed please

Hi there
i picked this up at the weekend, I first thought it may have been uranium but its not, there is a tiny tiny slight glow. Its made from a frosted green glass, the legs trunk and tusks are solid glass but the back is hollow and it has a slightly ill-fitting lid, although i would say it definatly does match the elephant.
It is press moulded, quite nicely done (apart from the lid not being exact that is). From tail to tip of trunk it is 19.5cms around 11cms tall.
i cant find anything similar.. but knowing me im looking in all the wrong places :sleep:
any thought would be great.

These elephants are very common in the USA. I've seen a lot of them, but I don't know who made them. Since there are so many on this side of the ocean, there's a good chance they are made here.

I found one on eBay (#350218963389) that looks like the same design. According to the listing, it is Tiara Glass, which explains why it is so abundant in the USA.

I bought one of these from fleabay several years ago hoping he was uranium - he's still in the post (apparently) and I never got my money back - but now I know he's not uranium

These elephants were originated the old Co-Operative Flint Glass Company works and were made at Consolidated Lamp starting way back in the late 20's.  In 1981 Indiana glass made some clear and in 1983 Tiara made frosted colors of pink, blue and green.  Tiara owns the mold.  Colors in ruby, pink and cobalt are thought to be imported.  In other words, there's a whole herd of them!
