Topic: Can anyone ID this Vase?

Has no Label or signature, but is a verry pretty piece of glass. Iridescent.

I think this is very likely to be Isle of Wight but there are others here who can give a definite opinion.

Looks very like Flower Garden Lilac, page 114 if you have Mark Hill's book on Mdina and IOW. Is it about 8.5 cm across? If so, the smallest of the three vases.

I would say that is definatly flower garden lilac, ive had a couple of these and everything looks right to me

If its not IOW, and hopefully, if it is , someone should confirm 100%, i did think it could possibly
be Phoenician glass Malta.
some of the shapes , strands and techniques reminds me of this nice vase of mine,

Lovely Phoenician piece, Andy, but it's quite different.

The Phoenecian piece has shards of white and ochre glass which has been previously blown, then broken added to it. This is a technique used at IoWSG, notably on Seascape, but not in this "Lilac Flower Garden" piece by IoWSG.

You Phoenician piece also has signifiacntly more colours in it, including the blue powdered glass over the white at the top.

Hi everyone, thankyou for your replies, they have been very usefull. I have gone ahead and bought that book, John off ebay because I'm sure I'll find it really usefull. The vase measures 10cm across, so maybe it a medium size? I had a search on google and came accross the Lilac flower garden vase and it does look the same so it's definatley Isle of White. I was going to sell it, but I like it too much now!

The book is very useful, when you read the description of how the Flower Garden items were made and coloured and then look at your photos you can see exactly what is being described. It is great to be able to be confident about what you are handling or looking at.

looking again at the sizes, yours is closer to medium rather than small (three sizes in this shape).
