Murano? dish withmoulded flower detail URANIUM very gawdy
« on: August 10, 2009, 08:15:06 PM »
Hi there
i picked this up as it was so Gawdy and kitsch its kinda nice. Its made from a red glass (thin top layer) with bright yellow (which i think is the Uranium layer) cased on clear glass. Under each pulled lip there is a flower detail.
Quite a heavy piece  i would imagine 1950's heavy wear to the base  which has a large ground and polished pontil with 2 grooves in the centre.
From point to point its 20cms, 9cms tall. Its real chunky & ugly but there is just something thats drawing me to it.
any ideas on which factory or even a designer or am i completly wrong and this is something amazing  :24:
many thanks
michelle

I've been meaning to say I've no idea where this was made; I've never seen anything like it with that moulded detail, but it is rather nice.

I'm sure we've had those on the board before, but don't think they were ever identified.
