Scandinavian Glass??
« on: August 12, 2009, 01:26:10 AM »
I've been told that the vase shown in the pictures is Scandinavian c.1920's.  Can anyone tell me if this is right? Also need to know if anyone can put a value on it.  On the bottom of the vase is a name.  As far as I can tell it is spelled   Thomlingshylton  with a mark over the o and m. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks  '

Thank You very much for your reply.  I have taken a closer look and it seem to be that you are probably right about the name.  If anyone would possibly know the value of this piece I would like to know it.  Thanks

Dear Namwob (if I may be so familiar):

It doesn't look like a very unusual Strombergshyttan, so you could  get an an idea of the low end of what it might fetch by searching Stromberg in completed eBay auctions and looking for vases of a similar size and level of engraving. The smaller engraved pieces tend to fetch surprisingly little. I think it's more likely to be early 50's than 20's. For example, there a similarly shaped vase with deer on it, rather than birds, that was designed in 1954, and is marked B 489. (B is used for vase by the company.)
