Topic: Okra paperweight 1984

Hi, I purchased an Okra paperweight at a boot sale for £8. It is 3" in diameter and a silver / blue colour with purple swirls. On the base is written 'Okra' 1984 GNP and No 94. Can anyone give me any info' on it and whether or not it was worth the money.

Hi there. 

Very nice, and a pretty good find at £8 of a standard example of an Okra weight.  Worth about £25 these days (prices for standard Okra have levelled off recently, with plenty of new standard weights on sale on ebay.   Or could fetch a bit more for a weight that old.  More specialist examples of limited editions are still fetching up to £250.

I don't know the particular artist.  The initials are more likely to be an abbreviation of the studio name for this weight design.

Could do with a much larger picture but I think what you have is a Gold Nebula Paperweight and your GNP should read GNB.
Made and designed by Richard Golding. 94 means how many of that weight this one was.
If its in Very good condition insurance valuation around £80. This reflects what it would cost to get it replaced today.
