Pretty iridescent bowl any clues as to who or when??
« on: October 24, 2009, 01:36:47 PM »
Last one i promise ;D im desperately trying to get some stuff shifted before xmas..
Ok i bought this bowl from a junk shop, there was actually 2 of them (i bought both for £6 ;D) absolutely smothered in dust about half inch thick but i could still see the iridescences shining though.
Really pretty pair of bowls does anybody have any clues as to who, where, why or what??
The bowl are both slightly different is size and shape, so don't think they where actually made as a "pair". Made from clear glass with an iridescent finish on the outer of the glass with a slightly rough feel, with an applied clear glass foot.
The base shows a little sign of wear and has a snapped off pontil mark which has been heat treated but still quite rough (not sharp though).
They stand 11.5cms tall and 19cms in diameter.
i do really like these bowls although have nowhere for them really but they may have to sneak into my collection for a little while.
many thanks
michelle

Certainly looks like stretch glass to me.  You might find it here.

Foot, pontil, shape, coloration and weight definitely indicate WMF Perlora.  Shape is a standard WMF blank.  Coloration is standard Perlora.  Very nice piece.
