Gossamer,Chances enigma,a further possibility?

After seeing the pentray in David's book(page 26) I remembered this,been keeping change in it for the last 4-5 years,it is 9and 3 /16ths by 2 and3/8ths by 1 and a quarter(have no idea how to do fractions on a keyboard,sorry)Keith.

I still cannot confirm that the pen tray is Gossamer pattern, or even by Chance. The oval bowl also mentioned on p.26 could very well be as Anne B sent me a photograph of one on a yellow plastic tray, and since then I got one with the same tray and matching lid, but in green. This seems to date the pattern to the late-1940s/early 1950s.

The photo(?) in the base - I assume this is enameled?
