Glass Mix ID?
« on: February 01, 2010, 10:36:25 PM »
Hi all

My second post and I am slowly learning, most of my glass has been packed away and needs a good clean.
I have decided to get it all out and try to list it and this is where I need a little help with some if the ID's.

I'm not sure how many bits I own in total but I certainly need to learn how to take photo's and also clean glass, and as mentioned now that I have found this forum I will make sure I purchase glass in the future with more focus on specific glass, I'm very random as your see and any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jay, and welcome to the board. Just as a general rule, it's better for us if you can post a new message for each item. That way we can move them to the right category once they have been identified. We'd also prefer if you could add your photos as an attachment directly to your messages. This guide should help you.

There are a couple in there that should be easy once you've separated them out. (I can see Opalina Fiorentina/Empoli, a Sowerby vase and what looks like a Chinese neodymium paperweight.)

I agree with Cathy, there are pieces we can help you with. (Although I think the Sowerby vase is Davidson  ;)  )

The green handled platter is Jeanette Glass, U.S.A. but I can't remember the name of the pattern.
The red vases at the bottom right look like Anchor Hocking.

The brown bottle vase with clear handle is a Kaj Franck design for Nuutajärvi and the bowl with purple inner colour and clear outer edge could have come from a variety of factories Scandinavian or British. It is often quite difficult to tell. It could be a Stennett-Willson for Kings Lynn/Wedgwood. Whitefriars did something similar but usually with a little curl at one end.

Hi all

Thanks ever so much and I will split them from now on, just was not sure what category to put some of them in...
Just in from work and I will have a good read of the link on how to post pictures in message!

Thanks to all who replied.

Kind regards

Jay

Jay, just post each topic into Glass initially - if we then think it would benefit from expertise elsewhere on the board one of the Mods will move it for you. Makes life nice and simple for you. :)

Thanks Ann and at the moment I am trying to figure out how to reduce the size of my j pegs...
Also waiting for confirmation of email for the Glass Gallery site where I will create an album or 2!

I am thinking I must have over 250 pieces of glass, maybe more...

Regards

Jay
