Topic: Help please with all aspects of this beautfiul antique drinking glass!!

Is this etched or engraved? I think it's etched but still can't get to grips with finishes, so need confirmation please.

Is the mark on the base a gadget mark and if so, does it mean that the glass could be Victorian. It has a slightly folded lip on the foot.

Also, I think the pattern is a rose and garland or wreath, but have researched this and can't come up with a match.

Any ideas please?

Just looked through my last post on etched antique drinking glass (the birds) and probably answered my own question on that part....plate etched...me thinks!

Ive got a similar one, some sort of wheel/machine etching i thought,
is it pantograph etching as Christine mentioned in the other post?

Its crude on this one of mine, and definitely not hand done.

pantograph etching was made possible after mechanical blowing of bowls: they all had the same shape & diameter and could be etched in a machine by the dozen simultaneously. It was most popular in the thirties.

Ive just seen a Pantograph etching machine on Wikipedia (not for glass but i understand the principle) and heres some new ones , still being made!
