Topic: Millefiori flower paperweight.

I don't normally do paperweights as I know little about them. I bought this because it was pretty, showed some age and £1.00. Should I caryy on with the day job?

Your paperweight looks a good bit like one I had with a Koscherak Brothers (KB) label, except that mine had expanded single cane flowers, instead of petals made with individual canes. I suspect Fratelli Toso for both of our weights.

And I would definitely keep my day job! But I would also keep the paperweight.

The ground color is commonly used in the newer Chinese pieces. The canes look nice and coggy on the outside but the inner parts have that diffuseness that is uniquely Chinese. I have a few Chinese pieces with nicely polished bases like that. Their cane technique has gotten a lot better lately and it's getting harder to tell them apart from Murano, but the pieces I have were bought from a reputable source and clearly stickered 'made in China'.
