Help ID, possible Pukeberg vaseline
« on: March 25, 2010, 10:43:13 PM »
It was suggested, but without any confirmation, that this plate and glass may be vaseline Pukeberg from possibly the 1930s.
I'm trying to verify that and also trying to find a pattern name.
The plate from tip to tip is 21 cm.  The glass has a 5.5 cm square base and stands 9.75 cm. tall.
It has a nice ring to the glass when tapped.
They are a golden amber with a tint of green.
They glow brilliantly under a blacklight.

could very well be both from the colour and from the design. But there does not seem to be a lot of documentation, so a firm attribution may not be possible.

Very nice; I have a circular plate in a similar pattern & colour but I haven't been able to identify it yet. I must admit I'd never thought of Pukeberg, rather I suspected Riihimaki as the colour is very similar to my Uranium Rengas vase. Will post a photo later :)

Hope you can see this one - this is the light blue version of the lion plate, but it also exists in yellowish amber with a robust uranium content - quite like the above. This one is a factory design from the early thirties - at Reijmyre !

Thanks for that Ivo! I have a Uranium plate with the same border but without the lion. Great to find out who made it :)

Gail, your set was indeed made by Pukeberg Glass.  Here is the info you need:

Pukeberg Glasbruk, Sweden 1910-1920, designed by Harald Notini.  Information obtained from Ami Fransson from ZERO INTERIOR/PUKEBERG GLASBRUK (Documented in Glowing Report, July 2007, pg. 1, the official publication of VASELINE GLASS COLLECTORS, INC.)

It is also listed that way in my ERRATA LIST (items 869-871):

Mr. Vaseline Glass

p.s.  All the other pieces on this page are also PUKEBERG!

Thanks to each and every one of you who took the time and trouble to check my item and to comment.

Dave, I'm thrilled to be able to have a solid ID on these.  Thanks so very much.

You all are super!  :hiclp:

Gail
