Topic: Whitefriars?

Hi. This vase is coming up in an auction in a couple of days. Its listed as whitefriars but I'm not so sure, I think I've seen this shape somewhere before but can't find it in any of my books, think it could be italian. Any ideas? Cheers

What's underneath? Could be Leerdam/ Maastricht - but need details.

Hi. No marks underneath. So frustrating when you know you have seen something but then can't find the reference! Leerdam could be it, I have done a bit of research into that stuff the last year so that could be the missing link. Will let you know any info i find. Cheers

Hi. Having done some research I'm leaning towards leerdam, maybe copier? Will have to go back to auction house check to see if there are any marks they may have missed. Would copiers work always be signed? Cheers

No, I don't think Copier's work was always signed (Ivo?). What might help though is a picture showing the base treatment.

Hi. Went back and had a better look at vase. Definitely no marks, concave base no pontil mark (see photo) thick, heavy glass stands 33cm high. Sorry about quality of pics crap iphone camera!

I was actually thinking of this one. I am "sort of" convinced it is Maastricht - but cannot prove it. The bottom treatment could be just variations on a theme.

Thanks for the images, they are very similar vases. I've actually found an image of what looks from memory to be the same vase as yours attributed to copier (try googling copier images I think that's how I found it.) What are the dots visible on the base of your vase? Cheers
