Iridescent vase identification - PLEASE!
« on: April 26, 2010, 06:36:27 PM »
Please treat me kindly.  This is my first time visit to "The Board!"  :spls:
I hope that my photos will help ANYbody out there who can shed some light upon my iridescent vase! Purchased as a gift for me in Dussledorf during 1987. The vase weighs 900g and it stands 23cms with the largest diametre being 11cms. It is cased crystal UNDER white, which has then been combed with silver metalic iridescence to give peacock hues of blue, purple, yellows & gold. It appears very Kew Blas(?) to me, however I have no other to conmpare with and the fact that it was bought from Germany, may point to Loetz(?). The base has been ground and polished witrh slight remains of the pontil still present. No factory marks or makers marks are visible at all.  It has certainly been produced by a very knowledgeable hand and is of period piece, of which I have little doubt. I can email photos, for I am having great trouble downloading them from my file to "The Board!"  I Attatch, Browse and POST, but nothing text OR images are getting through?  EEEKS!
COULD SOMEBODY ALSO ADVISE HOW BEST TO ATTACH PHOTOS TO MY MESSAGES?  THANKS

Mod: Photo attached as requested.

Hi and welcome Jazimmons,
we´d surely be having a hard time to ID your piece without a picture.  ;)
Likely the pictures you want to attach are too big; they shouldn´t exceed a size of 125kb.
Help can be found in this topic:

In case you still get stuck simply reply again and surely someone will be able to help.

Dirk

Hi Jazz,
welcome to the board. Its a popular pattern from many companies, from Loetz to Top Modern studio Glass, to cheaper imported stuff (i had a lovely one some years ago, i think it was from Taiwan, as i saw a label on
another)
Is there any sign of age wear to the base?? (or anywhere else)
Cheers

Hi Andy and Thankx for your imput & views which i appreciate. This vase has gotten me stumbled! It does show some wear to its base, but this is not consistent to my other (attributed to or signed) Loetz items. I have ofeten wondered if it is modern, however being purchased in Germany for me in 1987 gives me doubt to this being the case.  TAIWAN has got me thinking too though! I do have more picutres which i can send you if you like to your own email address plus a few others also (if iridescence glass is YOUR thing?). keep me posted. My own email is: requiringmoreATgooglemailDOTcom if you want to contact "off-board". Thankx again, Jazz.
