5 Uranium/vaseline stemmed sherry shot glasses
« on: July 22, 2010, 06:35:27 PM »
Hi all
any ideas on the maker of these pretty little glasses.
The body is made from clear glass, nice quality, very white and quite fine glass. The stems are made from green uranium glass.
The lower part of the bowl has a slight optical effect almost like facets (definatly not cut, more like moulded like that?)
They stand at 10.6cm tall, 4.2 rim diameter, 4,7 foot diameter
any info much apreciated
michelle

don't think I'm going to be much use Michelle  -  but what base wear is there?    Most of the sets or parts that I see have U. throughout the piece, not just the stem and foot.    Mention this as I was wondering if yours might be reasonably modern.

What are the rims like? I have glasses with uranium bowls and glasses with uranium stems and feet as well as all uranium. I would say probably no newer than 1950s.

I'd agree with Christine - if I saw them somewhere I'd be thinking 1950s-ish - more on the shape, as I know diddly about uranium glass really.
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

This is the end of a glass service which could have been made up to the 1950s. A full set of glasses (6 water 6 red wine 6 port 6 champagne etc) if complete also had 6 white wine (or Rhine wine) which was identical to the red wine - but with a uranium foot. Replacements should be a good start for IDing.
